Mary, affectionately known as Nani, has been involved with caring for children as long as she can remember. As a young girl, she was a much-sought-after babysitter. She and her husband have six children, two adopted at ages 2 & 6 and four of their own. Now that their children are grown, they are finding their grandchildren to be a great delight!
"I home schooled our children from kindergarten through 12th grades. Over the years I have initiated, organized, and participated in many Christian outreach programs for children. I have taught children of all ages at church for 17 years. With the completion of my youngest child's education in 2010, I poured my heart and soul into founding Nani's House. Here I live out my passion for nurturing, teaching, and training children ages 2-5."
HEALTH & SAFETY
Nani’s House is a clean, safe environment in a home free of smoke and pets. Being licensed, Nani is certified in CPR & First Aid. A delicious, healthful, low sugar vegetarian breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack are provided. Meals are approved by the USDA Child Care Food Program and consist of soy milk, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, & seeds. An afternoon rest period is provided in which your child may nap or enjoy a wide variety of quiet activities such as books and puzzles.
Each day at Nani's House begins with worship. Through Bible stories, prayer, songs, and memory verses, children are led to put their faith in Jesus' love and care. Learning continues throughout the day with character building songs, stories, and activities. In addition to an afternoon review, weekly crafts and games further deepen your child's understanding of Biblical truths.
A flexible routine provides structure without pressure, thus allowing for natural development at a tender young age. A balance of educational activities and unstructured play throughout the day make learning fun. Helpfulness, good manners, communication and other necessary life skills are taught through both one-on-one and group play, and reinforced with songs, stories, and role play. In addition, working alongside Nani and their friends allows children to develop a healthy sense of pride both as individuals and as members of a team.
Fun is key at Nani's House, and preschool is no exception. Children learn to recognize and write their name, alphabet, and numbers through individual and group activities. Weekly themes consisting of letters or numbers reinforce learning. Songs, puzzles, crafts, and games teach colors, shapes, letter sounds, and more as your child prepares for kindergarten.
Exploring the world in which we live is second nature to children. At Nani’s House, we seek to satisfy children’s natural curiosity about the world in which they live through weekly themes centered around the following:
- Animal Classifications
- My Body
- Five Senses
Self-expression in the form of creative arts is a delightful way for a child to communicate what he is learning in all areas of life. Whether drawing, painting, or crafting in the art room, or singing, dancing, & making music, children are encouraged to express their individuality in all its many forms.
Weather permitting, you can find Nani's kids in God's great outdoors. Nature is another very important means God uses to further our understanding of His love for us. Your child will be led to explore creation in all its wonder through nature activities, discovery walks, and playing in the gated back yard. A variety of climbing and riding toys ensures that your child receives plenty of exercise each day.
